 VIZ Media is looking for a New Media Production Coordinator to join our Animation Production team!

 

• Native fluency (read, write, speak) in English a MUST
• Ability to proof, re-write, and grammar check in English a MUST
• Prior experience in DVD, TV, post production, or Media production in an entertainment, advertising, or design department STRONGLY PREFERRED
• Knowledge of video / audio, broadcast, encoding, codec, or other media production practices, terminology, materials, technology, and deliverables PREFERRED
• Knowledge of digital distribution market and platforms (HULU, Netflix, iTunes, Playstation Network, XBOX LIVE) PREFERRED
• Ability to speak, read, and write in Japanese PREFERRED

 

SUMMARY

The New Media Production Coordinator provides production support to staff in the Animation Production department. This position coordinates the creation of a valued online product which contributes to VIZ Media‘s strong position in the home entertainment market.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Assists staff with script editing (proof, re-write, & grammar check) and quality control of all VIZ Media EST and streaming animation products

Reviews the English and subtitled versions of VIZ Media digital video assets for continuity and synchronicity errors

Assists in project management for assigned properties from the delivery of assets through the product launch

Coordinates the trafficking of assets to various 3rd party vendors

Creates, manages, and tracks metadata across multiple properties for both internal and external use

Provides general clerical assistance relating to the production process, including filing, copying, and shipping

Assists with preparations relating to conventions

Manages and traffics incoming deliverables for archiving

 

In addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as assigned

 

 MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Native fluency (read, write, speak) in English a MUST
• Ability to proof, re-write, and grammar check in English a MUST
• Prior experience in DVD, TV, post production, or Media production in an entertainment, advertising, or design department STRONGLY PREFERRED
• Knowledge of video / audio, broadcast, encoding, codec, or other media production practices, terminology, materials, technology, and deliverables PREFERRED
• Knowledge of digital distribution market and platforms (HULU, Netflix, iTunes, Playstation Network, XBOX LIVE) PREFERRED
• Ability to speak, read, and write in Japanese PREFERRED
• Solid understanding of technology and content management systems
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
• Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
• Ability to pay strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Ability to communicate and interact professionally with culturally diverse clients, providers, and staff
• Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork
• Ability to work legally in the United States
• Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area

 

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

• Equivalent of 2-3 years of experience in delivering high quality video coordination duties related to production of video, TV programs, film, comics, or other related media.
• Successful performance in the video and/or film industries PREFERRED
• Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
