Currently, we have a great opportunity for a Retail Buyer in our Merchandising department. This position reports directly to our Vice-President of Retail Merchandising and works closely with the GMM, Inventory Planners and Advertising team. Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop compelling and saleable product for stores that meets sales as margin goals set for each fiscal year.
- Shop the market for vendors that can augment the PD assortments with trend right, quality product at competitive prices.
- Make monthly selection presentation of market product to management.
- Discuss and confirm prices, technical issues and requirements for market selected product with vendors.
- Build assortments that address the customers' evolving lifestyle and taste level.
- Analyze historical information to build on success, and minimize failure in all aspects of merchandise.
- Write and assort buys for the assigned category and work directly with Inventory Planners
- Review and present best sellers on a weekly basis.
- Review store assortment plans by delivery with GMM and/or VP-Retail
- Collaborate with design team in developing seasonal line plans and product categories.
- Shop retail store for inspirational styles and samples for future product development.
- Travel to New York or local market during major markets (6-8 times per year) to select product.
- Visits retail stores as needed; reports back on needs
- Attends weekly District Manager conference calls to gather and provide feedback
- Work with Advertising Team to develop marketing analyses and provides information and samples regarding buy strategies
- Collaborate with retail planning and allocation on core programs and allocation strategies
- Other duties as assigned to provide optimum customer satisfaction
