Summary of Responsibilities:The Team Leader, Engineering is part of the leadership team overseeing the project portfolio engineering staff involved in the development and implementation of overhead and underground transmission line and substation projects through the ATC Public Planning & Asset Delivery Process. The Team Leader has direct leadership responsibility for a portfolio based design engineering team, including internal and external resources, and is accountable for managing the team’s responsibilities and workload related to the preparation of estimates and designs that support project development and implementation within the assigned portfolio. This role will also provide support to and coordination with E&C peer Team Leaders as necessary for the effective and efficient development and delivery of transmission assets within all project portfolios.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manages project portfolio engineering staff responsible for estimating and design; specification and procurement of material, equipment, & contract services; calculations; drawings; construction document development; and engineering evaluations for overhead and underground transmission line and substation related work.
• Ensures that estimating and design activity is customer focused, results oriented and performance driven, meets accuracy and field validation expectations, and is carried out in compliance with all applicable internal and external requirements, including ATC Design Standards.
• Effectively manages and maintains constructive working relationships with the Team Leader-Project Development and Team Leader – Project Implementation within the assigned portfolio to effectively and efficiently balance internal and external resources required to complete projects.
• Recommends adjustments to existing policies, processes and standards reasonable to improve overall estimating and design execution.
• Partners with and provides feedback to the Asset Planning & Engineering group and provides support as needed for the continuous improvement of ATC Design Standards, estimating tools, and records management tools.
• Coordinates and directs design resources (both internal and external) to support company areas for feasibility and conceptual studies, project scope development, implementation of transmission system project work.
• Manages the portfolio engineering team’s workload and appropriately schedules and prioritizes work responsibilities of internal and external resources.
• Manages contracts with outside firms and alliance partners to ensure appropriate oversight is provided; required specification and performance criteria are defined and met; and contract deliverables are provided within scope, schedule, budget and other contract terms and conditions.
• Monitors and controls design quality to assure ATC Design Standards are being met.
• Assesses and manages design engineering team and related performance and skill levels and provides coaching, reviews, and developmental opportunities to ensure high quality engineering services.
• Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety, including observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting unsafe behaviors that may lead to accidents.
• Promotes and supports diversity initiatives and equal opportunity.

• May be called upon to serve before, during, and after a Transmission Emergency Response Plan (TERP) event; such event may require performing functions that are outside the scope of your regular job.
